Deploying Services
Once the appliance is associated with an organization and the network is configured, you can deploy and start Birch services.

- Network configured with internet access on at least one interface
Deploying services
Section titled “Deploying services”-
Open the admin panel and scroll to the System section.

Verify the environment — Confirm the environment toggle shows the correct setting (Staging or Production). This determines which cloud environment the appliance connects to.

Check for updates — Click “Check Updates” to see if a newer version is available.

Apply update — Click “Apply Update” to download and start Birch services. The process runs through three phases:
- Downloading — Fetches the latest service configuration
- Pulling — Downloads the service images
- Restarting — Stops any existing services and starts the updated ones

Verify — Once complete, all services should show as running in the admin panel.
Verifying cloud connectivity
Section titled “Verifying cloud connectivity”After services start, verify the appliance is connected:
- Sign in to the Birch web interface — Your appliance should appear on the Dashboard as an online node.
- Check the admin panel — The System section shows service status.
