Admin Panel Overview

The admin panel is the first interface you’ll interact with on a Birch appliance. It handles initial setup and ongoing system management.

  1. Find the appliance’s IP address — The appliance displays its current IP address on its HDMI output. Check the connected display to find it. If no display is connected, check your network’s DHCP lease table. The appliance’s fallback IP addresses start at 192.168.201.100 for the first network interface.

  2. Connect to the same network as the appliance. The appliance connects via Ethernet and will obtain an IP address via DHCP (with a fallback static IP if no DHCP server is available).

  3. Open a browser and navigate to:

    http://<appliance-ip>:3030

Replace <appliance-ip> with the IP address from step 1.

  4. The admin panel loads with three main sections: Organization, Network, and System.

The top section handles the appliance’s identity and association with your Birch organization. From here you can:

  • Sign in with your Birch account
  • Associate the appliance with an organization
  • View the current organization name and appliance ID

This step is required before the appliance can communicate with the cloud or appear in the web interface.

The network section displays all detected network interfaces and their current configuration. You can:

  • View interface names, MAC addresses, and current IP assignments
  • Switch between DHCP and static IP configuration
  • Set static IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers
  • View connection state

The system section manages the Birch services running on the appliance:

  • Environment — Toggle between staging and production environments
  • Version — View the currently installed version
  • Check for Updates — Check for newer versions
  • Apply Update — Download and apply an update
  • Service Status — View the status of running services
